    They were married in the parish church of St Lawrence, Mickleton on ??? 1948.  Mrs Kitchen, whose maiden name was Brain, is holding a card from the Queen.

  • Allen Kitchen wins RHS Banksian Medal

    Photograph [taken from a newspaper cutting] of Allen S. Kitchen who was presented with the Royal Horticultural Society's Banksian Medal for gaining the most points in the horticultural classes at the annual produce show of the Mickleton Gardening Club  in 1982. Allen also won the Dr. Snelson Cup, awarded for the most points in all classes.

    The total number of show entries that year was 419.

  • Beatrice Kitchen Gains Most Points in Spring Show

    Newspaper cutting shows Beatrice Kitchen with one of her exhibits at Mickleton Gardening Club's spring show held in the Joseph Webb Hall. With her are the Club's chairman, Vera Fisher, and treasurer, George Compton.
  • Brother and Sister Give 100 Pints of Blood

    These photographs are of Mrs Beatrice Margaret Kitchen and her brother Walter [Wally] Frederick Harry Brain of Pound Lane. They appear in an undated newspaper cutting reporting that between them they had given almost 100 pints of blood to hospitals. Mr Brain had just been presented with a badge and certificate by Lady Pollen on behalf of the National Blood Transfusion Service in recognition of his having given his 50th pint. The presentation took place in King George's Hall. He had donated blood for more than 30 years with just a short break during war service in Africa and Italy.

    Mrs Kitchen, then living on Granbrook Road [now Lane], was due to donate her 50th pint at the next session held in the village.

    Sent just before the D-Day Landings in June 1944. This copy belongs to Allen S. Kitchen who served as a navigator in the Royal Air Force during WW2.

  • Cricket Team Loses Match

    This photograph is taken from an undated newspaper cutting. The caption below reads: Runs were plentiful at Mickleton on Sunday but the home team's total of 124 was not enough to beat the "Gloucestershire Echo" who won by five wickets. Our picture of the Mickleton team and umpires shows, back row (left to right): Sgt.-Maj. Matthews, D.Taylor, E.Buggins, A.Kitchen, A.H.Wright, H. Simmons and A. Grinnall.     The Show was organised by the Victory Memorial Association and run in conjunction with the Annual Fete. Entry forms were to be given to Mr Kitchen and Mr Payne.
